How it All Started
Serena Orok, Founder of Lux, is a Registered Nurse from Thunder Bay, ON, who first hand knew the struggle of finding an affordable, yet a functional and durable set of scrubs.
Back in 2021, Serena was returning to work from a maternity leave and could not believe the price point to purchase scrubs.
Serena wanted to help other health care professionals like herself, find scrub uniforms that were comfortable for long shifts, flattering and had accessible pricing.
Lux Scrubs now operates as an e-commerce solution to offer uniforms
to not only health care workers but expanding to offer uniforms to a wide range of professionals such as housekeepers, spa clinicians, medical students, medical staff, kitchen staff, chefs and or first responders.
Serena discovered that scrub uniforms are such a versatile item and why not expand Lux Uniforms to a larger industry.

Serena is currently working on further educating herself on growing and scaling Lux.
She recently became a member of PARO, and is attending a conference in Orlando Go for the Greens to network, meet, collaborate with other business owners and hopefully meet a new partner or two.

Then to Now
In 2021, Serena was working full time as an emerge nurse, raising two young kids and running Lux in between.
Serena operated from her home for the first 2 years. With little to no business experience, Serena taught herself everything from website creation, selling online, how to ship conveniently across Canada/ US and now globally.
The first launch in June 2021 was 100 sets of scrubs in 3 colours. We sold out in the first month. Serena was busy packing orders from her living room with a toddler running around. Recruited friends to help with photoshoots and delivered local orders during nap times.

Lux Scrubs officially outgrew the house & needed to move to a bigger space.
Lux Scrubs colour line grew to over 30 colour options and multiple styles. Serena
was beginning to feel overwhelmed managing Lux on her own. Keeping up with emails, local deliveries, packaging orders, finding balance between her family and job still as a nurse.
Lux Scrubs First Permanent Location in Thunder Bay.
In 2023, Serena moved from the basement to an official office space. Lux hired their first part time employee to help manage online orders and be available to local customers in Thunder Bay.
The Scrubs were taking over.
